A rotary-scythe lawnmower has a two-piece foldable handle comprising two inverted U-shaped pieces pivoted together at about the centre of the full length of the handle, with the cross-piece of the lower handle-piece extending across at about the centre of the full handle-length, the handle being shaped and disposed on the mower to fold down to the sides of the mower-motor and extend compactly around it, and the handle is characterized by a hand-grip pivotally mounted about the cross-piece of the upper handle-piece for operating a clutch between the mower-motor and the rear ground-wheels of the machine via a control-cable which is attached to both of the handle-pieces so as to be foldable therewith. The cross-pieces are pivoted together by co-axial pivot-bolts lockable by captive wing-nuts on the insides of the handle-pieces, the upper handle-piece having flanges formed on its limbs, below the pivot-bolts to act as stops by co-operating with the lower handle-piece to ensure relative pivoting of the handle-pieces in one direction only. The hand-grip extends assymetrically around the upper cross-piece and is connected at one end to the core of a bowden-cable forming the control-cable. |
