PURPOSE:To prevent rejects as well as to reduce cost by storing a joined ingot, formed by welding, etc. remaining billets to each other, and feeding them as the standard-size billets to an extrusion line at need. CONSTITUTION:A remaining fag-end billet 7 discharged from a long-sized ingot 1 and sent to a joining machine 10 is stopped by the 1st stopper 8, and is welded to the 2nd remaining billet 7 by abutting them to each other. The joined billet 7 is successively moved to the 2nd stopper 9 to weld it to the 3rd remaining billet 7, and they are sent to a storing part 12 as a joined ingot 11. When an extruder is allowed to use he joined ingot 11, the ingot 11 is loaded on a conveyer 25 through lifters 13, 14 and is fed to an extrusion line. In this way, as the ingot is entirely used, the manufacturing cost is reduced and the extrusion of reject is prevented.
