The convenient carrying handle for cartons consists of a flexible plastic strip, which forms the handle part and is folded together prior to the intended use for the required gripping freedom, and a disc which engages behind the carton. The ends of the plastic strip are firmly connected to the disc between two paper strips which form the disc, are connected to one another, lying one on top of the other, and one of which has a cutout as a passage for the handle part. Serving to produce carrying handles as a mass product from two paper strips guided in parallel at the same conveying speed and a plastic tape guided between the two, including connecting the paper strips and the plastic tape, is a device which applies all the measures required for manufacture in a constant sequence and coordinated with one another. In this case, the plastic tape is fed in advance of the conveying speed of the paper strips to a device element, operating in phase with the other operations, for folding together and leaves said device part, after being folded together, at a speed corresponding to the conveying speed of the paper strips to produce the connection therewith and for subsequent cutting into carrying-handle lengths.
