The instrument receives two input signals of the same frequency, converts them by pulse shapers into rectangular signals used for measurement, the results being displayed. The timing pulse generator delivers pulses to a time interval-measuring circuit which counts them within an interval of time lying between the flanks of the two rectangular signals delivered to its inlets. The switching device in one position switches one of the pulse shapers to both inlets of the time interval measuring circuit and in a second position switches both pulse shapers to its inlets. The arithmetic unit calculates from the values delivered by the time interval measuring circuit the duration of the first and second signals and the difference in time between them. A display connected to the arithmetic unit shows the difference in phase. The whole is controlled through a single control unit.
