[Also in Divisions B1 and B2] A road-sweeping machine (Fig. 1 not shown) has a dust-collecting chamber (11) into which dirt is swept by rotary brush (10) and from whose top air is withdrawn, the air flowing inwards through filter bags which are mounted in cantilever fashion on their common outlet manifold 13 so that their opposite, closed, ends may be shaken by fingers 35 extending from reciprocating bar 25, to remove dust from their exteriors. Each bag comprises a resilient,'central metal sheet (16) with corrugated porous fabric sheets (17) on both sides and sealed thereto along three edges. Each group of three bags is clamped by rods 22 between a front plate 21, through which the bag interiors open into manifold 13 (Fig. 6, not shown), and a rear plate 19. Fingers 35 engage between the edges of plates 19. The bar 25 is reciprocated axially by a hydraulic motor (27) rotating an eccentric weight 28, the motor and weight being enclosed by a dustproof housing 30 mounted on the bar 25.
