PURPOSE:To enable a high speed input and relieve the operator's burden by generating a character string of KANJI (Chinese character) mixed text by a conversion processing to cope with input of either input units of sentence and cause. CONSTITUTION: When the clause input mode is selected by an input part 2, the character string inputted from the input part 2 are successively stored in an input character string storage part 3. By operating the conversion key, clause-unit conversion is performed about the content of the storage part 3, and its result is displayed in a display part 6. Meanwhile, by operating the mode change over key, the control is changed to the solid input mode. Then, when the solid input mode is selected, the character string can be inputted likewise. In such way, the character strings are inputted in the storage part 3, the content of the storage part 3 is converted on the sentence-unit, and the result is displayed in the display part 6. Meanwhile, when the homophony selection key is operated, the homophony selection is performed. And further, when the mode changeover key is operated, the control is changed to clause input mode.
