PURPOSE:To provide a recording material showing excellent ink respectively and excellent clearness of recorded images, by effecting directional diffuse reflection on a recording surface. CONSTITUTION:At least one material having affinity for water and polyhydric alcohol is used to provide an ink-receiving layer on a base having directional diffuse reflectivity. A pigment having directional diffuse reflectivity is dispersed in the ink-receiving layer. In addition, a filler is dispersed in the layer to control the directionality and enhance the ink receptivity. Because of the directional diffuse reflection, incident light (a) is reflected by the recording material as not only regularly reflected light (c) but also a diffusely reflected light flux (b) extending in elliptic form in the direction of regular reflection, and shows a high reflected light quantity at an angle, with a high whiteness. Accordingly, in a certain range of spatial angle between the illumination of record image and the observing eyes, an image with high contrast, deepness and three- dimensional feeling is observed. |
