PURPOSE:To make a combustion heat to be absorbed into molten iron efficiently without errosion of refractory of furnace wall, by supplying oxidizing gas from a laterally blowing tuyere, to burn gaseous CO as revolving flame, on bath surface of molten iron in converter. CONSTITUTION:In converter consisting of an iron cover 1 and a refractory 2, providing a tapping hole 4, a furnace hole 5 and a bottom blowing tuyere 6, etc., oxidizing gas is supplied to a molten steel 7 from the tuyere 6 and if necessary from top blowing lance (fig. is omitted) to perform decarbonization refining of the steel 7. Thereat, the lateral tuyere 3 piercing the cover 1 and the refractory 2 at furnace barrel part with slanting by an angle theta to a normal line N of inner surface of converter furnace body, and in the direction without facing bath surface, is provided above the bath surface of said steel 7. Oxidizing gas for burning gaseous CO generated by decarbonization refining of the steel 7 is supplied through the tuyere 3. Thus, secondary burnt frame of gaseous CO is revolved in above space in the furnace. |
