PURPOSE:To have stacking of sheets in the aligned condition in which their edges facing aside the transport direction are put in a plane by furnishing a side edge aligning means for the sheets to be stacked in a stacking chamber. CONSTITUTION:When bank notes are to be stacked, a lever 27 of an aligning means 24 beats the end face of each bank note P on a carrier and on the receptacle part 16 of separators 11, 11 so as to press them to a fixed reference surface for alignment. Thus the side edges of the bank notes are put in plane, i.e. they are put in alignment in the respect of sides across the transport direction. A certain number bank notes P thus aligned on the above-mentioned carrier 22 are sent thereby to a packing device as subsequent stage while the following bank notes P are held by the separators 11, 11. Then the carrier 22 returns to its original position to receive said following bank notes temporarily held on the separators 11, 11 in the course of rotation of them. This procedure is repeated to ensure that all bank notes fed are stacked neatly. |
