PURPOSE:To achieve good recording/reproducing of various types of information by sticking together both a recording/reproducing head and an erasing head in the longitudinal direction of the track in such a way that the corresponding head gaps are arranged relatively close to each other. CONSTITUTION:A composite head 2 is provided with the first recording/ reproducing gap R/W-1 and an erasing gap E1 for the first track T1 away from each other in the longitudinal direction of the track and also R/W-2 and E2 for the second track T2. P indicates a track pitch, Wa recording/reproducing track width, and Wb erasing track width in the figure. By installing a composite head 2 to the equipment main body in such a way that the joint part which is the head center, will position on an O-Y line, it is possible to achieve almost the same head touch to the recorded surface of a magnetic disk 1 for the four gaps, recording/reproducing gaps R/W-1 and R/W-2 and erasing gaps E1 and E2. |
