PURPOSE:To enable the calculation of the distance from a searching object, the change of a propagation medium and a propagation speed, by using time data from radiation obtained by observation to the reception of a radiation wave even when a propagation medium is unknown and the propagation speed of the radiation wave is unclear. CONSTITUTION:In underground embedded object searching radar using a radio wave, the electric pulse outputted from a transmitter 3 is emitted toward the ground from an antenna 1 through a duplexer 2. Next, the reflected wave form a searching object 5 is received by a receiver 4 through the antenna 7 and a change-over device 2. This data is processed through a memory apparatus 14, a reflected wave receiving time min. position detector 15, a searching object distance calculator 16 and a discriminator 17 and the distance from the searching object 5 is calculated with good accuracy. That is, when a propagation medium is n-kinds, the thickness of each medium and the wave propagation speed through each medium are calculated from times from transmission at (n) different places to the reception of reflected waves. Next, (n) is increased until the other receiving time can be explained to calculate the distance from the searching object and a propagation speed can be calculated. |
