For the purpose of sealing off the opening of a supporting rod mounted on the luggage-compartment side and intended for a swivellable headrest so that it is at least splash-proof and is protected against damage, the seal is designed as a small plate mounted so as to float in a bracket fixed to the body, which small plate is secured in position by a ring inserted through the rear of the bracket. The small plate surrounding the circular arc-shaped opening region of the supporting rod moves to the side when movements of the supporting rod which deviate from the ideal line occur during swivelling.
