In the distributor of a production-line machine for cigarettes, the steep conveyor belt (13) removing the tobacco from a supply (8) is allocated a paddle roller (14) which combs back an excess of tobacco and is designed as a sensor element to detect and hold back foreign bodies and by means of a signal transmitter (16) switches off the distributor drives (23, 24) of the steep conveyor belt or of the paddle roller so that the foreign bodies can be removed.
