PURPOSE:To acquire a fuel cell suitable for continuous generation, whose electrolyte can be fed easily, by furnishing a reservoir of phosphoric acid to each cell unit and interconnecting the electrolyte layer and the reservoir with the composite of the electrolyte layer. CONSTITUTION:On an electrode with a catalyst layer 13 placed over a porous carbon plate 14, an electrolyte layer holder 8 of a polytetrafluoethylene plate is placed. To the electrolyte layer 10 is applied a paste which is made by mixing and coordinating siliconcarbide powder combined by zirconium phosphate, together with phosphoric acid, over which an electrode is placed, piled up with an electrode holder 6, being squeezed by a specified pressure. After removing overflowed paste in the reservoir 12, a given phosphoric acid is stored in the reservoir 12, fixed with a separator 1 thereover, and the cell is formed. Thus, feeding route from the reservoir 12 to the electrolyte layer 10 is formed. |
