PURPOSE:To reduce a time for exchanging a tool, by providing not a ready station but a carrier which can move on an arm, enabled to turn between a magazine and a main spindle, and has an exchange arm. CONSTITUTION:A device provides a turning arm, turning around a center axis at a right angle with a main spindle 3 and a storage tool in a tool magazine 6 serving as the center, while a carrier 23 moving on this turning arm in a direction at a right angle with the main spindle 3 and the storage tool axis. When said turning arm is turned to a side of the main spindle 3 or the tool magazine 6, the device, moving an exchange arm 28 on said carrier to respectively an exchange position in the main spindle or the magazine, holds a holding groove in the tool or a tool holder by a pawl in a gripper part. While the device decelerates turning of the exchange arm 28 and its movement in the axial direction in a magazine side of the turning arm. Further the device brings the carrier to a predetermined position so as to prevent it from interfering with the main spindle when the turning arm is turned to the side of the main spindle. Accordingly, a time for exchanging the tool is reduced. |
