Quinoxaline derivs. of formula (I), in which X1 and X2 are hydrogen or halogen and R is 1-4C alkyl, are made by condensation of a cpd. of formula (II) with a cpd. of formula (III) in which X3 is halogen. - Reaction takes place in an inert, organic solvent in presence of a hydrogen halide acceptor base, e.g. a tert. amine, at between ambient and reflux temp.
