The invention comprises a muffling disc, which comprises a plurality of layers and is intended to reduce the noise of drums, in particular to avoid background noise and to avoid impairment of comfort by spring as a result of rebounding, the muffling disc fitting well and not sliding out of place even when the drum is in inclined. The muffling disc comprises three layers, the first layer being of porous foam rubber, the second layer being of a mylar film and the third layer being once again of foam rubber. The muffling disc formed in this way fits well and tightly on the drum head, without rebounding, and does not slide out of place even when the drum is inclined. The muffling disc emits an absolutely identical, but muffled, sound and its comfort of spring is identical to that seen when an unmuffled drum head is subjected to the same sequences of drum beats. The muffling disc formed in this way results in optimisation of the acoustic behaviour and comfort of spring, whilst simultaneously reducing the noise level considerably.
