The invention relates to an air separator for precipitating fine-grade material of at least one granular size or one granular range from a mass material, consisting of an outer first chamber with at least one connection element which opens tangentially into this chamber for feeding in carrier air, of a second chamber which forms the separating space and, in relation to a vertical axis, is arranged further inside than the outer first chamber and to which the mass material is fed via a charging opening and in which the mass material is ventilated with the air from the first chamber by means of an annular blind arrangement which is formed by a plurality of baffle plates and arranged concentrically with respect to the vertical axis, and of a third chamber for carrying off the precipitated fine-grade material. It is characterised in that the separating space is formed between the inside of the blind arrangement formed by the first baffle plates and the outside of a centrifugal system which consists of a rotor which rotates about the vertical axis and has a multiplicity of second baffle plates on the circumferential surface of the rotor, and in that the third chamber is arranged underneath the centrifugal system.
