PURPOSE:To produce the titled compound having pharmacological activity, using safe and inexpensive catalyst and chemicals, by carrying out the rearrangement of an alpha-haloalkylarylketal in a polyhydric alcohol in the presence of a zinc compound, and hydrolyzing the reaction product. CONSTITUTION:1mol of the compound of formula I (Ar is aromatic residue; R<1> and R<2> are alkyl or together form a cyclic acetal; R<3> is H or alkyl; X is halogen) is subjected to the rearrangement reaction in the presence of 0.001-1mol, preferably 0.01-0.5mol of a zinc compound selected from oxide, hydroxide, sulfide, and (basic) carbonate (preferably oxide or hydroxide), in a 2-12C polyhydric alcohol, preferably ethylene glycol or propylene glycol, preferably at 100-200 deg.C, and the reaction product is hydrolyzed to obtain the objective compound of formula II. |
