PURPOSE:To easily check the degree of consumption of a low potential metal anode with a fully electrolytic corrosion preventive effect and with low under water resistance by arranging the low potential metal at the rear end of a drive shaft housing as a self-sacrificing electrode. CONSTITUTION:An outboard motor 11 arranges a low potential metal anode 14 made of zinc, etc. in a drive shaft housing 13 that is adjacent to the rear end of a gear case 12. This anode 14 is fixed by a bolt 15 and the head 15a of the bolt 15 is imbedded in the anode 14. Thus, since the degree of consumption of the low potential metal anode can be confirmed from on a ship with a fully electrolytic corrosion preventive effect and with low resistance in the water, the earlier replacement of the anode 14 is enabled. In addition, the space on the inner surface of the gear case 12 can effectively be used. |
