The door panel (3) is designed to be fixed on to the inner side of the wall of the door and forms a compartment (27), to carry an air bag (13). The compartment is fitted with a trap (34), which is coated with a leaf material (55), and which defines an opening through which the air bag inflates, by the separation of the two parts (36) of the trap, from the junction line (38). The leaf covering is fixed on to the trap and/or the panel, so that it is detached during the inflation of the air bag.
