In the case of a bank-protection body for the bank- or slope-protection of stretches of water, a bank-protection cover is to be obtained which can be supplied in the finished state, is easy to place, even under water, and provides the advantage of considerable durability and excellent resistance against the washing-out of the underlying material, for which reason a rectangular, flexible mattress is proposed which is formed on the underside by plasticized, coarse wire mesh (1) which carries a coating (2) of strong plastic cloth on which a filling bed lies which consists of an envelope (3) of plasticized, fine-meshed metal gauze which is filled with stone chips (4), the entire body being provided with continuous, rigid holding bolts (6) at uniform distances apart but in staggered rows, which holding bolts (6) are held in their position at the top and bottom by round or polygonal catch plates (5) of metal or plastic, in which arrangement the wire mesh (1) and the plastic cloth (2), without the filling at two contiguous sides, in each case form an overlapping margin of such a width that the overlapping margins, when placed against one another, can lie in a sealing manner under the margin of the adjoining mattress body. <IMAGE>
