PURPOSE:To obtain a rolling material having excellent surface while preventing it from chemical reaction, seizure and abnormal wear, by using a work roll having at least a surface of WC sintered hard alloy, in cold rolling a material of Ti or Ti alloy. CONSTITUTION:A roll whose whole body is made of WC sintered hard alloy is preferable of course, but it is brittle in addition to being too expensive; there fore, a composite roll is formed by providing a layer of WC sintered hard alloy to the surface of a steel roll by means of spraying or welding. Further, in the constitution of a rolling mill, the work roll of WC sintered hard alloy is required to be supported by a backup roll. |
