PURPOSE:To enhance high-speed ink absorption property, color reproduction or the like in ink jet recording, by incorporating a porous inorganic pigment, a cationic resin and a water-soluble aluminum salt in an ink jet recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A porous inorganic pigment, a cationic resin and a water-soluble aluminum salt are dispersed or dissolved in water, and an adhesive, other inorganic pigments or the like is added thereto, as required, to prepare a coating liquid. The coating liquid is applied to a base such as a paper and a thermoplastic resin film by a size press, a gate roll coater or the like, followed by drying to produce the recording medium. A water base recording liquid is jetted from an orifice onto the recording medium to record an image. The porous inorganic pigment may be, for example, one which is prepared by coagulating primary particles of synthetic silica and forming therefrom a dried powder with an average secondary particle diameter of 0.5-30mum. |
