PURPOSE:To form for a short time, an image having a good storage stability, a high density and a less tendency for generating fog by using a specific basic precursor. CONSTITUTION:The basic precusor is a compound shown by the formula [wherein X is C, N, or S atom; R<1>, and R<2> are a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl, an alkinyl, an alkenyl, a cycloalkyl, an aralkyl group, -CO2.B (B is a base), (RO)2PO-, R2PO- (R is an alkyl group), a hydroxyl group; R<3> and R<4> are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkinyl, and a cycloalkyl group; R<1>-R<4> together with each other may be formed a ring; K is O or 1; K and (l) have a numerical relation of satisfying atomic values among X, R<4> and O atoms without over and shorts; (l) is 1 or 2; (m) and (n) are 1 or 2 and have such relationship that positive and negative charges are identical]. The material contg. the basic precursor does not almost change the photographic performances e.g. the sensitivity in the max. and the min. densities during a storage. Therefore, the image having the high density, the less tendency for generating fog and the high S/N is obtd.
