Pump speed control for oil well helical pump

The submerged pump controller acts on a variable speed electric motor (2), controlling the speed in relation to the error signal obtd. from a measurement (28) of the pressure difference dp between the fluid in the region of the pump (1) and the prodn. pressure of the oil well. The relation between the motor speed adjustment and the pressure error is linear with speed rising for a positive pressure error. - The control circuit uses a microprocessor accepting monitoring data and controlling the motor speed. An alarm segment is incorporated in the microprocessor program to initiate emergency action if the pressures cross preset limits.
