The invention relates to drive devices for flexible magnetic disks in memory technology apparatuses. The aim of the invention is a disk-rotor motor having an extremely small structural height. The object of the invention is to design the spatial arrangement of the functional groups comprising the motor-shaft bearing, means for the magnetic return path, armature windings and rotor disk such that their axial extent is considerably reduced. The object is achieved in that the rotor hub is constructed as a retaining spindle for the flexible magnetic disk and is supported on a shaft stub which is mounted in the base plate of the chassis, which base plate is part of the magnetic return path. Fields of application are memory technology apparatuses whose magnetic disks are driven directly and in the case of which a low structural height is required.
