By the arrangement according to the invention for the additional sealing of sealing walls enclosing landfill sites, diffusing media are encapsulated in the enclosed landfill-site area by plastic-coated or uncoated, thin-walled metal sheets, preferably corrosion-resistant high-grade-steel sheets, and their harmful and contaminating effect on the adjacent ground and ground-water areas is removed. The coating of the thin-walled metal sheets with plastics constitutes additional corrosion protection for the metal sheets as well as an additional barrier for contaminated landfill-site seepage water. The individual sections of the thin-walled metal sheets can be connected to one another by folding or by welding in supporting fluid or sealing-wall compound.
