Process for obtaining permanently culturable animal and human cell lines and the use thereof. The present invention provides a process for obtaining permanently culturable animal and human cell lines by fusion of normal animal and human cells with biological components which bring about a culturability in vitro, wherein normal animal or human cells are fused with cell fragments of transformed cells which alone are not capable of multiplication and then cultured in a culture medium without selection substances. The cell lines thus obtained can be used for obtaining cell products and for testing active substances.
