PURPOSE:To close easily and quickly the aperture in the nonimmersing part of a converter in a manner as to permit easy reopening according to need by fitting a short pipe-shaped closing material which is blinded at one end into the inside of said aperture so as to direct the blind face toward the inside part of the converter. CONSTITUTION:The short pipe-shaped closing material 9 which is blinded at one end is fitted to the inside of the aperture 6 of a through-hole 5 such as a hole for observing the inside of the converter or hole for blowing additives provided to the nonimmersing part of said converter by directing the blind face 10 toward the inside of th converter. The material 9 is preferably a bottomed short pipe-shaped material such as an empty can for commercially marketed canned beer having about <=50mm. difference between the outside diameter thereof and the bore of the aperture 6 and consisting of a material having about >=600 deg.C m.p. Said material is so that the blind side 10 stops at about 100mm. before the base metal surface 11 in the converter. The aperture 6 of the hole 6 is thus easily and naturally closed via the side 10 by the sticking, dripping-on 12, etc. of the contents in the converter. The blind face 10 and sticking material are melted from the flange side 7 of the hole 5 toward the converter inside by using an ignition assistant, etc. in the stage of reopening the aperture, by which the easy opening is made possible. |
