<p>Ultrasound energy from a transmitter applied through the ultrasound transducer via the transmit-receive switch is scattered by the body tissues. This includes unknown tissues in a region with portions of this scattered energy being returned as echoes to the transducer and into a receiver. - From the echo signals, a series of samples are derived from the sampler, digitised, and applied to a parallel chain of Kalman digital likelihood function filters. The output signals are fed to decision function logic which, using known algorithms, assigns one of the possible tissue types to the unkown tissue.</p> |
