The subject of the invention is an ultra-high stability quartz oscillator comprising: - an output stage A3; - an oscillator stage Ao which comprises an amplifier A and a resonator 1 whose first terminal 7 is connected to one of the outputs s2 of this amplifier and whose second terminal 8 is connected to the input e of this amplifier; - at least one separator stage A1, A2 disposed between the oscillator stage Ao and the output stage A3; and - an automatic gain control stage 10 whose input is connected to one of the outputs of a separator stage A2 and whose output is connected to the first terminal 7 of the resonator 1; this automatic gain control stage 10 comprising a field effect transistor T5 mounted with variable resistance, and a control stage of this field effect transistor allowing a dc control voltage of this field effect transistor to be obtained which is a function of the loop signal level in the oscillator stage so as to adjust the loop gain of this oscillator stage A0 to the value ''one''. <IMAGE>
