APPARATUS FOR PROCUDING THIN-WALLED METALLIC STRIP

PURPOSE:To produce continuously a thin metallic strip having uniform material quality and thickness by rotating a cooling drum and sticking and solidifying a molten metal to the outside circumferential surface of the drum while circulating the molten metal in a refractory spout and heating the molten metal to prevent the cooling thereof. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal in the circulating spout 6 made of refractories is circulated by the effect of an electromagnetic induction coil 8 provided to part of the spout 6 and the cooling of the molten metal circulating in the spout 6 is prevented by a heater embedded to the side wall 6a and bottom wall 6b of the spout 6 by which the molten metal is maintained always at the prescribed temp. An aperture is provided to part of the spout 6 and the cooling drum 1 which rotates around the horizontal shaft is attached to said place. The molten metal is supplied from a supply part 10 provided to part of the spout 6 into the spout 6 and while the molten metal is circulated in the spout 6, the molten metal is stuck and solidified to the outside circumferential surface of the cooking drum under rotation. The thin amorphous or ultrafine crystalline metallic film 4 having the uniform material quality and thickness is thus formed and is stripped from the cooling drum by a scraper 5.
