PURPOSE:To reduce wear of a snap ring by forming a layer of metallization spray at that end part of a piston pin, made of fiber-reinforced metal, where the snap ring is to be fitted. CONSTITUTION:A piston pin 3 is made of a fiber-reinforced metal, which consists of Al alloy as matrix and long alumina fibers 4 of mean dia. 3mum and mean length 2.5mm. as reinforcement approx. 50% by volume. These long fibers 4 are oriented as stretching in parallel with the axis of piston pin 3. A layer of fusion spray of molybdene 5 is formed at the outside surfaces of the ends of piston pin where a snap ring is fitted, wherein the molybdene layer is provided in consideration of its low attacking characteristic to the snap ring. |
