PURPOSE:To prevent lowering of high band of FM demodulated wide band signals by selecting carrier frequency of FM modulated signals larger than the vicinity the frequency corresponding to peak of reproduced output, and at the same time, providing an emphasis circuit in the front stage of an FM modulator. CONSTITUTION:Video signals supplied from an input terminal 3 to an emphasis circuit 4 are supplied to an FM modulator 6 through a change-over switch 5, and FM modulated video signals thus obtained are amplified by a recording amplifier 8 and then supplied to a recording magnetic head 9 and recorded in a thin film magnetic tape 10. FM modulated video signals reproduced by a reproducing magnetic head 11 are amplified by a recproducing amplifier 12, and FM demodulated by an FM demodulator 14 through a change-over switch 13, and original video signals are outputted in an output terminal 15. When the frequency characteristic and the band of video signals supplied to the input terminal 3 is shown by a curve 18, the frequency characteristic of the emphasis circuit 4 is set so as to augment at frequency above fc-fm as shown by a curve 19. Thus, a curve 21 becomes a curve 22, and the possibility of deterioration of high band of FM demodulated reproduced video signals is elminated. |
