Process for preparing ethers of clavulanic esters of the formula II <IMAGE> in which the group -CO2R1 is an esterified carboxylic acid group, R3 and R4 are identical or different and denote hydrogen atoms or alkyl radicals having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R5 represents such a radical that the group -CR4R4R5 is an inert organic radical having up to 18 carbon atoms, characterised by reaction of a clavulanic ester of the formula III <IMAGE> with a halide of the formula IV <IMAGE> in which X is an iodine, bromine or chlorine atom, in the presence of a compound providing silver ions. The ethers of clavulanic esters which are produced are useful as intermediates for preparing medicinal active compounds. |
