A connecting member is intended for releasably connecting two profile sections, of which at least the first profile section has a longitudinal groove defined by undercut edges, into which the connecting member can be positively fitted by means of clamping parts, the connecting member being capable of being releasably fitted into a chamber-like cavity in the second profile section and having two mutually displaceable side walls, integral with the clamping parts, between which is mounted a tensioning member which splays the clamping parts and consists of a slide guided between the side walls and provided with wedge-shaped surfaces on its end facing towards the clamping parts, these extending substantially over the entire width of the side walls, and the slide being slidable between the clamping parts by means of an eccentric disc connected to rotatable pins. <IMAGE>
