This system is characterised in that it involves the use of a series of multi-purpose self-stable portal frames. Each portal frame comprises a small truss 1, two columns 2, and an intermediate floor beam 4 making it possible to construct two-storey buildings. These elements are connected together via mortice assemblies and supports 3 and 5 and are fixed 8 to a concrete slab supported at 7. A series of portal frames erected parallel establishes a bay creating a building having a length and volume which are fixed according to the number of portal frames. These portal frames are laid close together in such a way that they do not require a secondary transverse frame. This system is particularly intended for constructing detached houses. <IMAGE>
