PURPOSE:To always exhibit stable sealing function by elastically deforming a fixed ring in such a manner as to become more distant from a rotary ring to correct deformation due to sliding heat. CONSTITUTION:If a thickness relief portion 22 is disposed on a fixed ring 21, the fixed ring, especially the inner peripheral side thereof, is easy to cause elastic deformation axially. Accordingly, the fixed ring 21 can be caused to produce designated amount of elastic deformation by suitably setting the material quality of the fixed ring 21, the capacity of the thickness relief portion 22 and the pressure of a high-pressure fluid P. Thus, even if the sliding surface, especially the inner peripheral side, is thermal expanded excessively by sliding frictional heat between the fixed ring 21 and the rotary ring 5, the fixed ring 21 and the rotary ring 5 can be brought into face contact with each other. |
