摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select an optimum pattern among a plurality of amplification-time patterns varying so as to increase the amplitude of a high frequency amplifying means according to the time elapsing from emission of electromagnetic wave into the ground to the completion of reception of wave reflected by a buried object in the ground. SOLUTION: A storing work for storing output of an amplifier means 11 in the second memory by varying the amplification of an amplifier means with a plurality of amplification-time patterns while moving in the first distance (ΔD) in the scanning direction of soil 5 is repeated for predetermined second distance L1. The average intensity (Pjz) of reflected wave is obtained at each position in the depth direction in the second distance L1 from the soil 5 surface to a predetermined depth DP1 near the surface. A pattern of which maximum and minimum of the average (Pjz) for each pattern are in the amplification dynamic range of the amplification means 11 and are covering the whole range of its dynamic range, is selected as optimum one.</p>
