PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select an optimum pattern among a plurality of amplification-time patterns varying so as to increase the amplitude of a high frequency amplifying means according to the time elapsing from emission of electromagnetic wave into the ground to the completion of reception of wave reflected by a buried object in the ground. SOLUTION: A storing work for storing output of an amplifier means 11 in the second memory by varying the amplification of an amplifier means with a plurality of amplification-time patterns while moving in the first distance (ΔD) in the scanning direction of soil 5 is repeated for predetermined second distance L1.
