The invention relates to an apparatus for transporting containers, receptacles, boxes or the like, especially bottle boxes, in the form of a channel system which is filled with a washing liquid, a channel system which is filled with a liquid as transport means being cylindrical in shape when viewed in cross-section and having channel sections which are straight, bent to the left and/or bent to the right in a modular system. The liquid backflow channel integrated with the channel system is arranged outside and/or inside the channel system. A circulating pump for the liquid ensures that a closed liquid circuit is maintained. Channel sections of the modular system are designed with their liquid backflow pipe or liquid backflow channel as left-curving or right-curving pieces with an arc of 30 DEG , 45 DEG , 60 DEG or 90 DEG . Interchangeable, displaceable and adjustable flow-directing and flow-guiding plates are arranged in the cylindrical channel system, in order to regulate the flow rate and to prevent or reduce the formation of eddies. The flow-directing and flow-guiding plates arranged in the cylindrical channel system are furthermore designed in the form of Venturi nozzles.
