A lamp for night time illumination of an advertising garden umbrella has a rechargeable cell (8) as the power source so that it is not necessary to run a power cable to the umbrella. The lamp can slide on and is releasably secured to the umbrella pole above the spokes. A switch (5) is provided in the top of the cell holder (1) to switch the bulb on and off. A handle (6) is provided for ease of carrying and for hanging the lamp on a hook. A securing pin (7) is provided for locking the lamp around the umbrella pole.
