In order to reduce the flow of a breathing gas between the breathing line of a patient and a breathing gas analyser a fitting which projects into the breathing line is provided. The fitting preferably has an opening of reduced cross-section which leads via a filter and a capillary tube to an outlet which can be connected to the gas analyser.
