The present invention relates to a rotatable drum (10) for treating loose objects, which is provided with fixed drum plates (18a,b,c,d,e) to define and inner space of the drum and which has a longitudinally arranged loading and unloading opening, with a plate (28) which is mounted so as to swing about a horizontal axis with respect to an adjacent fixed plate (18a), the plate (28) being able to swing between a position in which it closes the opening and a position in which it leaves the opening open. The plate is pressed elastically into the position in which it leaves the opening open and is arranged, in this position, towards the inner space defined by the other plates. <IMAGE>
