The invention relates to a winch arrangement for lifting appliances or lifting gear, comprising a drum for winding and unwinding a rope-like element, a device provided on this rope-like element for fastening or receiving a load, and a drive device for rotating the drum. The invention is characterised in that the drive device has a ball screw with a threaded spindle displaceable in the axial direction but non-rotatable, at least one piston/cylinder device with a piston which is movable by pressure in a cylinder and to which one end of the threaded spindle is fastened, and also a rotatable element like a female thread which is connected to the drum, and in that a pressure-regulating device is provided in order to regulate or control the pressure in the cylinder.
