Strongly adhesive deletion tapes (45) have the tendency of remaining stuck to the recording medium (27) after the correction process. The invention is based on the object of making it simpler and less expensive, in comparison with the prior art, to release the adhesive deletion tape (45) from the recording medium (27). This is achieved according to the invention in that the type carrier carriage is moved, after each correction stroke, in the direction of transport of the adhesive deletion tape (45) in relation to the recording medium (27) in order to release the adhesive deletion tape (45) from the recording medium (27) and that, subsequently, the winding-on spool (49) is transported by means of an electromagnetic transducer, for example by the stepping motor (57). As a result, it is possible to make the electromagnetic transducer (57), constructed as a drive device, for transporting the adhesive deletion tape (45) less powerful than the known drive devices. This has advantageous effects for the manufacture of inexpensive small printers. <IMAGE>
