PURPOSE:To perfectly remove dust adhered to the internal wall and improve voltage resistance characteristic by loading a cap neck providing electrodes and a bulb body for gas exhaustion and supply to the open end, supplying gas after exhausting the inside of bulb and causing the electrodes to discharge through application of high voltage. CONSTITUTION:The inside of cathode-ray tube bulb 1 is vacuumed to 10<-2>- 10<-3>Torr with a rotary pump with a gas supply cock 7 provided branching to a bulb body 4 closed and the exhaustion cock 6 opened. Next, the exhaustion cock 6 is closed and the gas supply cock is opened. Under this condition, Ar, for example, is supplied to the cathode-ray tube bulb 1 and a degree of vacuum is set to 10<-1>-10<-2>Torr. A high voltage of 300-500V is applied for 3-5min or longer across the electrodes 2, 3 through the lead wires 21, 31. In this case, since discharge occurs along the internal wall of neck 13, dusts adhered to the internal wall of neck 13 can be removed by discharging, purifying the internal wall of neck 13. |
