In a key switch comprising a key foot 3 and a key head 4, a light-emitting diode is disposed in the key foot 3. To simplify assembly without detracting from the visibility of the diode, the key foot 3 comprises a cutout 18, which accommodates a housing 15 of the light-emitting diode.
