PURPOSE:To improve the wear and corrosion resistances by mixing powders of stainless steel, an Fe-P alloy and graphite and sintering the mixture contg. prescribed percentages of Cr, Ni, P and C. CONSTITUTION:Austenitic stainless steel powder is mixed with Fe-P alloy powder and graphite powder so as to prepare a powdery mixture having a composition consisting of, by weight, 15-25% Cr, 6-10% Ni, 0.2-2% P, 2-5% C and the balance Fe. The powdery mixture is compacted and sintered. The resulting wear resistant sintered alloy has superior wear and corrosion resistances.
