PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium having improved wear resistance, moisture resistance and durability by providing a cured film contg. colloidal alumina and specific metallic alkoxide or metallic chelate compd. as a protective film on a thin metallic magnetic film. CONSTITUTION:A treating liquid contg. the colloidal alumina having 1-80mu grain size and the metallic alkoxide or metallic chelate of the element selected from the groups IV and V of periodic table is coated on a thin magnetic metallic film on a disk substrate consisting of an Al alloy, etc. finished to a mirror surface and thereafter the substrate is heated to form the protective film which consists of the condensation product of Al-OH and the metallic alkoxide or chelate, is chemically stable, has high adhesiveness to the underlying metal and has excellent durability even at and under a high temp. and high humidity or even if the substrate is dipped in water. The long-life magnetic recording medium having the excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance, etc. is thus obtd. |
